Background &
History
Lineage and Birth
Born in Samarra in 869 AD (15th of Sha'ban), Imam Mahdi is the 12th descendent of Prophet Muhammad [pbuh] and the son of the 11th Imam, Hassan al-Askari [pbuh], and Lady Narjis [pbuh]. His birth was a beacon of hope, kept secret from the tyrannical authorities of the time to ensure his safety, fulfilling the ancient prophecies of a final savior.
The Concept of Occultation
In Shia theology, God has placed Imam Mahdi in a state of Occultation (Absence) to protect and preserve him. This means he is present in the world, influencing hearts and minds, but remains hidden from the public eye until God grants him permission to rise.
This period is often compared to the "Sun behind the clouds"— even when you cannot see the sun directly, you still benefit from its light, warmth, and life-sustaining energy.
The Final Alliance
One of the most beautiful aspects of Imam Mahdi's return is his collaboration with Jesus Christ ('Isa). Shia Muslim narrations emphasize that they will stand on the same side, working as a unified front against the Antichrist (Al-Dajjal).
Jesus will play a pivotal role in validating the truth and inviting all of humanity to join Imam Mahdi in establishing a world of absolute justice. Their victory is not one of violence, but of truth over deception.
Signs of a New Era
The "New Age" led by Imam Mahdi is characterized by a global transformation. The narrations share specific details that benefit all life on earth:
- ● The eradication of global poverty and hunger.
- ● A massive leap in human scientific and intellectual capacity.
- ● The restoration of the environment and a return to ecological balance.
- ● The end of war, where weapons are repurposed for the benefit of society.
